What I'm playing

Well I haven't posted in awhile so I guess I should drop in a bit of what I've been up to.
I've been having a great time on my little old Runepriest in the WAR endless trial. I love healing in the game because not only do you get to stay alive significantly longer, but it actually feels as though you are doing something. Healers are few and far between in T1, so often I feel that I'm carrying my team by keeping them all alive. Its a little pretentious, but when you get 67k heals in a scenario, about 40k over Destruction's highest healer it makes you think... :P

I'm planning on rolling a Warrior Priest with a friend and twink them out. WPs and DoKs when they are twinked are a trek to kill and running with a friend I predict major butt kicking. So I'm really enjoying the simplicity and tactics of T1 WAR, the Endless Trial is fantastic, and if they allowed you to twink at all the tiers I would definitely resubscribe.

In other news I got Mass Effect, and am moving through it at a leasurely pace. I'm really enjoying it, but I'm not trying to burn through it by any means. I'm playing a no nonense fellow who doesn't like politicians, is good with the ladies, but easily turns on anyone (Except the ladies) if its going to profit himself. Good stuff.

"Sit back and smell the [MW2 fireworks]"

Epic fail post title there but anywho. Just sitting here. Hanging. Waiting for the massive spam of MW2 hate/fanbois going crazy over the internet. This is going to be good. Let me just say something; I suck at FPS, and pretty much always have. I've always found it far too compeditive, with the good veteran players having a merry old time pwning people new to the game. (But I don't play that much!) I'll start playing FPS seriously when they develop a skill matching system that actually works. Right now I'll stick to my 15 minutes of COD2 a day for now, while sitting back and watching the marvelous MW2 fireworks. And now I have a Math exam. :D

I promise I'm going to do some study!

I just wanted to link this as many people have mentioned the game Evony in particular for its specific advertising style, and its good for a chuckle and a /facepalm

Some simple card magic

Sorry that this is not MMO/photoshop related but it was so good I thought I would share it. I used to be a magic fanatic and got fairly good and some basic card stuff, but this guy is really, really impressive.

Funniest. Video. Ever (Watch all of it if you can stomach it, they save the best until last)

I had a great post (If I do say so myself) all lined up but blogger stuffed up and now I can't even recover my draft. Sadface. So instead I'll give you guys a link to probably the funniest video I have ever seen. Make sure you watch it until the end! Its one of those great videos that you see something new every time you watch it. Brilliant stuff.

Big consequences result in teamwork? A random PvP splurge (What does that even mean? Sounds gross)

If a PvP system has a harsh punishment for dying (Such as loss of one piece of gear) and it also encourages people to group together, would that cause greater teamwork between people? I don't think so. All it would probably do would be to cause pugs to fade into nothingness and no one would want to attempt to PvP without going with a bunch of people they know and can talk to on vent. Such a system would then lead to elite guild groups roaming the land and rolling solo/pugs n00bs.

So how would a game encourage teamwork within groups? First of all there will always be people that have no wish to help other people out and just want to grief others, so perhaps the best way to get these guys' act together would be to ensure that a group failure would result in everyone suffering. But this would just cause even more people to avoid joining pugs as the n00bs would stuff up their 1337 skills.

To band a group together and to cause them to work as a team a game would have to give greater rewards to the group as a whole but still penalties for the whole group if they fail. A group that shares the reward will work less as a group of individuals trying to get whatever they want, but as an individual group trying to work together so they all can gain something. Not only will they then want to play as a group, but they will need to because of the other groups striving for the same goal.

I was just thinking of the Darkfall/WAR kind of PvP system. In the end guild groups will rule the world, and there is little anyone can do about it except combat it with another guild group.
So, sorry about that random splurge, starting with me answering my own question, suggesting ideas and refuting them in the next sentence. :) I'm in a funny mood this morning. (Yr12 starts on Monday :P)

Pure Pwnage game....??!!

I often visit the PP website to check to see if their latest episode has come out, even more so after one of their cast members (T-bag) died in a car crash. Anyway, the place had been very quiet for a long time with no updates until today. The guy who plays Jeremy talked about various things including a game that he had been designing and that will shortly be in beta. Check it out here. Sounds very interesting and was quite suprising to me seeing as Jeremy making his own video game had been a joke in one of the episodes...turns out they were serious!
